Simple Steps to your Home Spa

Yes, we love our children and our partners…but we also love some time to ourselves! We are all allowed moments in life where we are the sole focus. Where’s the harm in treating ourselves every now and then?

An ideal ‘me-day’ would be a day at the spa, but not all of us have the bank balance to make something like that a reality! Here are a few at-home spa ideas to make you feel like the celebrated queen you are…in the comfort of your own palace.

Keep it Natural

If your skin is feeling particularly dry and tight, fear not – everything you need is in your kitchen. Blend some cold cream, honey, yoghurt, aloe vera gel and avocado into a paste. Use a foundation brush to apply the mask and leave it to dry for 15mins-20mins, then rinse, and enjoy!

Scrub, Scrub, Scrub

Before you hop in the shower, exfoliate your skin with this easy scrub. Mix brown sugar, raw oats and olive oil and slowly rub it over your body in a circular motion. Take it easy, this is a treat, not a chore. Be sure to stand over a mat or towel to catch the remains. Once you’re done, have a shower and enjoy your butter-smooth skin!

Even it Out

For some reason, our knees and elbows get the driest and most chapped. To sort this out, ake slices of lemons and rub them over these areas. The acid in the lemons will soften the skin as well as even out the colouration.

Always Oily

To moisturise and repair your skin, rub some 100% extra-virgin olive oil on your face and neck, in a circular motion, before applying any face cream.

Get Steamy

Turn your shower into a sauna! Run the hot water at its highest and while steam is building, spray the room and your washcloth with your favourite essential oil (lavender is always a good bet). Sep into the shower, put the cloth to your face and inhale the scents. You’ll feel relaxed, and as a bonus, your sinuses will be clear too!
